Freelance Writing Positions: Choosing A Well-Paid Job

If you are considering starting as a freelance writer, there are a few key things that you should know in order to be successful and find well-paid jobs.

Many people today are jumping on the bandwagon, so to speak. With the growth of the Internet, and the incredible growth of third-party freelance platforms, the people from all over are starting to sign up and about themselves as a freelancer. However, just signing up for an account on a third-party website is not going to bring success your way. If you want to be successful as a freelance writer, you need to make sure that you take the job as seriously as you would any other career field. Far too many new people mistake a freelance career as something that they don't have to truly care about, treat with professionalism, or work at regularly. The exact opposite is true.

  • In fact, it is significantly harder to be successful in the freelance world and it would be to simply apply wants to a job and regularly go to an office. The key difference is that instead of selling yourself to an employer one time, completing one interview and thereafter receiving a steady paycheck, being a freelance writer means that you have to apply to jobs every day. It takes thicker skin the most career fields.
  • You have to be available from time to time on weekends. Bear in mind that people require freelance work from all over the world, so you might be able to meet someone’s evening deadline in the middle of the day your time. That is perfectly fine. The point is that you should be available at least part of the time on weekends, perhaps one or two weekends per month, or in the evenings if you really want to nab jobs that pay more. The more successful jobs, the ones that give you the truly grateful positive feedback you want, will be those for whom you meet a stronger need. People who need something completed over the weekend, or are pressed for time fit that exact category and are in greater need. Therefore, the resulting feedback and recommendations you receive will be significantly better too. You do not have to be available all weekend, every weekend, but check the night before to see if anyone posted jobs that need to be completed immediately. Check on Sunday nights too because many people have items they need done by Mondays.

not only a part-time work

Some writers start off doing a few projects that begin as part-time work. As they see their potential they want to know how this can become their full-time job. A few writers are fortunate enough to say they earn enough to make a living. Others may think this is impossible but possibilities are endless. Overall, being a freelance writer is excellent! Some may not have the exact words to describe the feeling, but they can see themselves writing for a very long time. The benefits are great but when you feel this is your calling you feel right at home.
